City Clerk

Born August 6, 1947 in Detroit
Grew up in Lincoln Park and graduated from Lincoln Park High School
Received an Associates Degree of Science from WCCC
Jan has been a Southgate resident since 1970
Married to Don, 2 children, 3 grandchildren

Former City employee (15 years) as Executive Secretary to the Mayor
Retired Office Manager of a Southgate Law Firm

Elected to City Council in 2005 and served 4 terms until 2013
Elected City Clerk in 2013 to present

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
An elected Clerk heads the City Clerk’s office which provides many services to benefit the public.

They administer elections and can assist in registering to vote, obtaining absentee ballots, appointing election precinct inspectors for Election Day, and providing candidate packets to be a candidate for a municipal office, to name a few.

The Clerk's Office is the designated keeper of city records, i.e. all ordinances, resolutions, Council minutes, bids, contracts.
